Hightown Landfill New Cell and MRF

New landfillMcLorinan Consulting Ltd have achieved Full Planning Permission and a PPC Permit for a new state-of-the-art non-hazardous landfill at Hightown Waste Management Site, Belfast.  The landfill, which will be the first of its kind anywhere in the UK, is a revolutionary design where all wastes are wrapped and bailed prior to emplacement.  This design has a number of advantages over conventional landfilling, which include   the removal of the requirement for peripheral netting, reduced noise, dust, odour and bird nuisance, reduced leachate production and increased capacity.  The landfill has a capacity of 400m2 and will accept residuals and non-recyclables from across Northern Ireland.

We achieved planning approval in line with the 2 year projected timescale.  McLorinan Consulting Ltd also completed a successful PPC Permit Application for the site which is now being constructed under our supervision and CQA methodologies.  All works was completed by our on-house team of waste experts and environmental specialists.
