Sustainable Drainage Systems – Antrim Castle Gardens

Antrim Castle Gardens Restoration Programme

The project is funded jointly by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Antrim Borough Council. The tender for the implementation of the project has recently been awarded to Henry Brothers with a capital value of £5.1M. Works began on site in mid August.

Summary Description

McLorinan Consulting Ltd has been appointed as a specialist Hydrological Consultant as part of the multi-disciplinary design team responsible for the approved restoration designs for Antrim castle Gardens.

This Heritage Lottery funded project will restore the Antrim Castle Gardens Site to form one of the cornerstones on which the regeneration of Antrim’s town centre is to be built.

As well as implementing a new Private Water Supply for the water features, and designing restoration methodologies for the canals, we have completed full designs for the implementation of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems, or SuDS, to manage site runoff from new car park areas of the site and control urban runoff entering the site from main road drainage.

‘I have found McLorinan Consulting Ltd to be very professional in all of my dealings with them. They have made a very significant and valuable contribution to this project to date and I look forward to seeing the completion of the project with their specialist assistance.
