All groundwater abstractions in Northern Ireland drawing in excess of 20m3/day now require and abstraction license issued by NIEA. It is now illegal to abstract more than 20m3day of groundwater from a well or borehole without an abstraction license. Supporting information demonstrating that the groundwater is sustainable, produced by a qualified hydrogeologist, may be required by NIEA prior to the issue of a license. We are specialist groundwater consultants, including a former groundwater regulator, and we can complete the abstraction license process on your behalf.
